Mushroom Madness

Mushroom Madness is a board game I’ve been working on for about 5 years on and off. It started as a desire to just create a game I thought I’d like to play and it’s blossomed into a very fun game we love to play with friends and family. All the parts you see were designed and 3D printed entirely by me with the exception of the mushroom bag for drawing/storing tiles I bought from Etsy and the game cards, which I designed myself and had printed by Makeplayingcards.com.

Here is a synopsis of the game:

Type: Area Control, Engine Building, Map Exploration, Wargame.
2-6 players
90+ minutes
You are a Fungus in an old growth forest, your goal is to grow your colony big enough to grow
mushrooms, but that’s every other Fungi’s goal too! Starting from a single spore, your growth
starts out slow but accelerates rapidly as your colony becomes larger and stronger. Eventually
you’ll inevitably cross paths with another colony, so you must overtake them before they
overtake you and steal the precious nutrients you’ve discovered!

Players take turns playing 2 action cards of which there are (currently) 5 types: Colonization,
Attack, Ability, Strategy, & Environment. Each type of action card has its own characteristics and
uses. As you play action cards and spend Nutrients to expand your colony you’ll discover even
more nutrients (N) & passive N income tiles (Plant & Tree Roots) which grant you bonus
nutrients at the beginning of your turn. The larger your colony, the more N income tiles you’ll
have discovered. Once you’ve expanded your colony as far as you can (30 Tiles total) and
you’ve colonized 4 N income tiles you must cash in your N income tiles and your entire colony
for 1 mushroom. Grow 4 mushrooms to win but watch out, Mushrooms and Passive N Income
tiles can be attacked and stolen by your opponents!
